FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

OUR TEAM HAS NEVER DONE A DIVERSITY TRAINING. WHERE DO WE START?

Our Empathy Building workshop is a strong, foundational workshop that we recommend to help team members get on the same page and have a shared language and understanding on diversity, why it matters in the workplace, and how to be more empathetic toward others.

WHAT TYPE OF WORKSHOPS DO YOU OFFER?

Our signature workshops include our Empathy Building and Equity Broker workshops, and we have a range of other workshops and speaker sessions including but not limited to “Hidden Identities,” “Inclusive Mindset,” and “Creating Sustainable DEI Change In the Workplace.”

DO YOU OFFER AN UNCONSCIOUS BIAS TRAINING?

The Empathy Building workshop is our take on traditional unconscious bias training.  We frame the conversation with a positive approach and focus on building healthy behaviors and habits to be empathetic toward others and their different experiences, upbringings, and perspectives. Research shows that the way the topic of diversity is approached makes all the difference. Mandatory training for unconscious bias automatically puts folks in a defensive mindset and they enter conversations with a negative perspective. Empathy is the most fundamental skill needed to understand and connect with others from different backgrounds. While we address biases within the workshop, we start the conversation on what it means to be seen, how to see others, and how to appreciate the differences that others can contribute.

DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM WORKSHOPS?

Absolutely! In fact, we love getting creative and designing workshops for special requests!

A couple of our recent favorites are for clients, RALLY and Core Creative. We created a hybrid workshop, “Becoming An Empathetic Equity Broker” for RALLY; as a social-issues-driven firm, it was important for them to have an action-oriented experience. And thanks to a special request from our client Core Creative, we now offer Empathy Essentials – a modified version of Empathy Building for companies’ new hires, to ensure all new and existing employees share common vocabulary, understanding, and appreciation of diversity in the workplace.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS A PERSON MIGHT HAVE BEFORE THEY COMMIT TO SIGNING UP FOR A TRAINING?

  • How does this impact our work?

  • How do we get leadership to buy in?

  • How do we get our team buy in?

WHO IS A GOOD FIT FOR THIS SORT OF TRAINING?

The ideal client is ready to do this challenging, sometimes uncomfortable, but absolutely necessary work. Our clients are committed to the lifelong journey of building diversity, equity, and inclusion at their workplace and beyond.
